Global Compact on Refugees

“We want a better world for those who has to leave the home because of persecution. A world where  we all share responsibility; where refugees are part of the host community and enjoy guaranteed equal rights and best possible welfare conditions”

The Global Compact on Refugees was officially affirmed by the UN General Assembly on 17 December 2018. Led by UNHCR, it calls for an adequate international response to new and old challenges related to the forced migration.  It is the first such meeting in this century.

On the anniversary of the Global Compact on Refugees  Member States, international organizations, refugees, civil society, the private sector, and experts gather to elaborate a framework for more predictable and equitable responsibility-sharing, recognizing that a sustainable solution to refugee situations cannot be achieved without international cooperation.

The new approach should assure solidarity  and cooperation that include reducing pressure on the countries most affected by the refugee crisis and enhance refugee self-reliance.
