National Integration Evaluation Mechanism (ΝΙΕΜ) 6th Νational Coalition Meeting, Greece

ANTIGONE - Information and Documentation Center on Racism, Ecology, Peace and Non Violence  held  the 6th Greek Coalition Meeting in the context of the European Program ‘National Integration Evaluation Mechanism’ (ΝΙΕΜ) on Saturday the 20th of October 2018 in Thessaloniki.

In accordance to the NIEM coalition lines, ANTIGONE invited local, as well as regional stakeholders from the refugee intervention field. What is more, beneficiaries of international protection, activists and volunteers active on both Greece and other European countries (Spain, Italy, Kroatia and Germany) were invited and, thus, participated in the discussion, contributing their valuable point of view.

More particular, the discussion began with a presentation of the NIEM program, its scope and pertaining activities in Greece as well as other partners’ European countries. It then carried on with a presentation of the Select Respect network, which was formed in 2014, comprising several NGO NGO and initiatives active in human rights in the city of Thessaloniki as well as Northern Greece. Its goal is implementing common actions regarding the defense of Human Rights, conducting awareness-raising activities and provide a mutual support to its member organizations. The Select Respect network was therefore presented as a good practice of networking for social integration to the participants of the 6th Coalition Meeting. It also provided the basis for the rich and vivid open discussion that followed afterwards -under the title ‘Networking 4 Integration’- which raised questions of effective networking among organisations and stakeholders on the integration field in local, national as well as European level.

ANTIGONE would like to thank all those who contributed with their views, arguments and experiences to the content of the 6th Coalition meeting. We would also like to invite you to next Coalition meeting, that will be held in Athens, on the 17th of December 2018.
