Women on the Road Foundation from Gdańsk among laureates for nomination “Stories from the lockdown”

We are proud to share that the Women on the Road Foundation (Fundacja Kobiety Wędrowne) from Gdańsk, nominated by the Institute of Public Affairs, is among seven laureates for nomination “Stories from the lockdown”,  2020 year's Civic Pride Award - initiative of the European Civic Forum. 


The Women on the Road Foundation is the first foundation in Poland led by a refugee woman, Khedi Alieva. The Foundation provide a varied range of activities in aim to support and empower refugee and asylum seeker women, enhance integration and multicultural dialog and cooperation within the local communities. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic  members of the Foundation with volunteers sewed  over 31’000 masks and distributed widely across Poland.

In December, the laureates will be awarded by the European Civic Forum in Brussels in presence of representatives of EU and international institutions. These stories will also be collected in the fifth edition of Activizenship - 2020 Civic Space Watch report.
