How do European countries provide access to language learning for minor refugees and asylum seekers or what is the real possibility to work in a new country for refugees and asylum seekers?
On Friday 31 July, Ewa Kownacka, NIEM lead researcher form Institute of Public Affairs presented the report “The European benchmark for refugee integration: A comparative analysis of the National Integration Evaluation Mechanism in 14 EU countries – Evaluation 1” and shared with Radio TOK FM latest findings from the comparative study of the refugee integration frameworks in 14 EU countries. Among other questions she explained how do European countries provide access to language learning for minor refugees and asylum seekers or what are real possibilities to work in a new country for refugees and asylum seekers.
Although some positive dynamics have been identified, EU member states are failing to provide comparable access to long-term integration. Duration of asylum procedure remain to be one of the serious challenges migrants met in all evaluated countries. For example, average duration of first instance asylum-decision waiting period in Poland is currently up to one year and eight months.
